Elizabeth (Liz) Barton and Cecilia Webster lead the Victorian chapter of Aged Care Reform Now – a grassroots organisation made up of older Australians, their families, current and retired aged care workers and others who are passionate about social justice – to lobby the government for meaningful reform. Liz and Cecilia are retired nurses with over 90 years of experience in nursing between them. They have worked in acute and palliative care nursing as well as aged care. Both have had experiences with institutionalised care with family members living in care facilities. Liz and Cecilia joined the Aged Care Reform Now Organising Committee because they are passionate about the human rights of older people. Through their work, Aged Care Reform Now was a recipient of the Holt Australia Day Awards for its valuable contribution to the community.
